Designing a Garden and Landscaping Plan
Whether you are interested in designing your home or business, when it comes to the outdoors you really need to come up with a garden and landscaping plan before you get started. Do it yourself landscaping can be done and does not have to be difficult, so you should not be swayed, even if you are a first timer.
You will have to be educated on landscaping before you will be able to make your own garden and landscaping plan however, and there are a few issues in particular that you are going to have to be clear on.
Getting Started
The first thing you will want to do in the process of creating your own garden and landscaping plan is to get a plot map of the area you are going to be landscaping. If this map is not available you can do your planning on a piece of graph paper fairly easily as well.
Remember that the best and easiest way to accurately measure a landscape is to start in either the front or backyard. If you are only planning to landscape one or the other this will obviously make the decision very easy but if you want to do both, the best idea is to choose to start with the one that is smaller.
This will allow you to get a bit more experience before moving on to the larger sized one, so you can get a bit of practice in and if you make a mistake here or there it will not be as big of a deal.
Designing
The next step in the process of coming up with a garden and landscaping plan is to start designing. There are some great ways to get ideas, for instance take a look around at your neighbors’ yards. Consider what you like and dislike about each and what plants work and what ones don’t.
Remember that there are going to be differences between your yard and your neighbors’ yards, and so what works in their yard may not be so aesthetically appealing in yours.
